A Blip on the Reidar

One sided match?

Dunfermline Athletic 0-1Greenock Morton
East End Park
£1.90 Steak Bridie

First home game of the season against Greenock Morton (founded 1874) and a chance to put aside the defeat of last Saturday and start the campaign proper, well that's what we thought anyway. In many ways this game closely resembled the game in Hamilton. We started lively and looked the better more confident team. Then after twenty minutes they ran down to the other end of the pitch and scored. Unlike last week though we didn't equalise.

Again more similarities. Morton fielded a very tall team (they grow them big in this division) and we looked tiny and unable to win a headed ball (with the exception of Bamba). Again our midfield was swallowed up. Again we had a player red carded for two bookable offences, a man down but to be fair that was at the very death of the game anyway. We didn't adapt, again.

Tam McManus and Sol Bamba where about the only two who I thought put in a decent shift although a goal from Tam should have been high on his 'to do' list.

The 300 odd Morton fans where jubilant and the 4,300 odd Pars fans (many new season ticket holders after last years cup run) where dejected, fed up and pissed off.

On Thursday we play the first game of our Uefa Cup tie against Swedish side BK Haken. What will happen? Well lets hope they field a team of midgets who like to sit in their own half and dangerously pass the ball about in front of their own keeper. We're bound to won that? Famous last words maybe?

Dunfermline League position: 8th (we moved up one place because two other teams in the league where beaten worse than ourselves, so already we are relying on Livingston being rubbish, much like two seasons ago in the SPL).
