Baltimore Block

A couple of streets in Avondale, Jacksonville, still retain the original paving blocks from when the streets were laid out in the 1920s. One of them is Elizabeth Place, where I found myself this morning during my walk.

I tried to research the company and Baltimore Block but with little success. All that I came up with was WB&Co, which may refer to Jerome and Elijah Walsh of Newton Hook, which may or may not be on the Hudson River. Whether it is the same company, I do not know.

I was attracted by the pattern, texture, name on the brick and the various colours, plus the dappled sunlight.
