Old Bookmobile...

This is the old bookmobile that sits in front of the Baddeck Library. There is a brand new bus waiting to be brought to Baddeck and then the huge move will take place. The librarians were very thankful that it didn't arrive in the middle of February!!!

I am just so amazed that so many books, dvds, magazine etc are housed in this bus....plus all the other stuff that librarians need when checking out a book. This old bookmobile travels all over Cape Breton Island and is a very welcomed friend in some of the more remote areas. I love that there is still this somewhat archaic method of getting books to rural communities and that there is still such a love of reading real books, from a library.... and that the wonderful folks at this library spend their time providing this service.

For me, the idea of being able to go into this lovely, friendly little library, spend some time chatting with Kate, Lavern or Leah - and leave with an armful of free books....just strikes me as immensely pleasurable!
