Extreme Cycling

The weather today has been gorgeous. We headed up Dumyat mid morning and had lunch at the top. It's the first time I have been up the hill in 25 years...and first time ever for my husband and the children.

It was an easy climb for the two year old..he was in his rucksack on my back:-) It's been a great rucksack but it is nearing the end of its life...he's quite a weight in it. When we have to stop using it our walking will have to be curtailed for a wee bit until he can go the distance by himself.

The weather had brought a lot of people to the hill and lots of mountain bikers. I was exhausted at the thought of cycling up Dumyat and far too much of a scardy cat to contemplate hurtling down the steep tracks. My sons aged 5 & 7 thought they were "awsome!" It was very exciting watching them all fly past with lots of stones flying up and back wheels sliding away...as a mother though I am hoping it's not something they would like to do when their older!

For their first climb the three older children did brilliantly. We finished off the afternoon with an ice-cream from Corrieri's cafe and a stop in Causewayhead Park...it was a busy place too.

We took advantage of the sunshine tonight and fired up the BBQ...you never know when the opportunity might arise again.

At last some holiday weather lets hope it continues into the week ahead.
