José and Moulai

These guys make a living from directing cars to parking spaces outside a supermarket in Palma. José Gonzalez García was a chef for 22 years and has now fallen on harder times. He has collected various languages through his work in kitchens. Moulai Rachid is originally from Morocco. Muchas gracias señores!

I always seem to blip the flowers, mountains and richer side of life on this island. These men live here too and I need to discover and record more of the reality. The development of tourism in Mallorca has changed the population enormously and brought with it a new kind of poverty. A social one, in its ability to generally ignore the people who may have fallen by the wayside.

I hope I have done them justice.
