Carol: Rosie & Mr. Fun

Celebration Bubbles

These celebration bubbles on the sandy shore are the image of living life deliciously -- at least that's what they are for me. After doing yesterday's collage, I knew one, just one, photo had to represent today. So that's the one.

This morning we knew our lovely hotel, Pacific Edge in Laguna Beach, would be filling with wedding guests today. The whole place seemed to be in a flurry of activity for the event. When we checked-in earlier in the week, we were told every room was sold for the weekend. So we put our name on the waiting list just in case a cancellation was made. This morning there were no cancellations. So we packed-up, but decided that something equally as lovely would be found.

We called to inquire about several pet-friendly places in Laguna, but we weren't finding anything reasonably priced. So we decided to drive south toward Oceanside or Carlsbad.

We are now staying in a lovely beach resort just across a residential street from the sand in Carlsbad -- a block or two from the Carlsbad Village.

We were delighted and surprised to pay half the price we paid the past three nights in Laguna. It is a lovely room with small kitchen, which is exactly what we need because Mr. Fun continues to diet. The grounds resemble a large sprawling tropical courtyard. We have been past here before, but never realized that it was such a nice place.

This is the community where my Grammie Teele lived when I was growing-up. She and Grandpa had an avocado ranch on a large piece of land, but they sold the ranch when they were too old to care for it any longer.

So this afternoon we crossed over onto the sand and walked a mile or two south toward the apartment building where Grammie had lived until she died at the age of 91.

This placed is filled with memories. This is going to be a fun spring break weekend. Details will be here the next two evenings.

Good night from Southern California.
