Watch out Willie Carson

Our daughter had a taster session today at the local RDA. She loved it. She was very quietly excited but you could just see when she was on the back of the pony that she was bursting with excitement and achievement.

The pony in the picture is called Casper and he was a lovely gentle animal. After her wee trek outdoors she was taken inside where they did a little bit of trotting:-)

Hopefully there will be an opening in one of their classes soon and she will get a place. She has mild cerebral palsy. Over the last couple of years her condition has changed and she has lost some movement in her arms. She use to participate in Tae kwon-do but these changes made this particular activity quite difficult. So we are trying to find new activities that she can enjoy and will hopefully help with her movement.

I also think it will be good for her confidence as you have to be quite firm when instructing the horses. She got the hang of saying 'walk on' and giving him a wee dig with her heels and pulling on the appropriate rein to make him go in a particular direction.

After the taster session we had a wee walk round the yard and were introduced to the other horses. The visit was all the better for the glorious sunshine:-)

I became a full member today so that I could back blip this. Started to upload this at dinner time last night but didn't get it finished. We then headed out to a silver wedding party and didn't return to the wee sma' hours...so the ability to back blip was a necessity.
