I'd arranged to give one of the music group gang a lift to today's session, but was running early for our agreed pick-up time. So I treated myself to a quick trip up the road to Malahide since the nice weather was still with us and traffic on the dreaded Malahide Road was actually light for a change. It really did turn into a quick trip, since blipping time passed faster than I'd anticipated, and suddenly it was time to head back to collect my passenger. It's just as well I got in the Malahide diversion, as the camera didn't come out of its case for the rest of the day.

What was first intended to be just one person getting a lift turned into three, one of whom was supposed to be in Malta today but hadn't been able to get away because of the Icelandic ash cloud and the airport shut-down. The music session was v e r y l o n g today. It was one of our quarterly 'concert' sessions, and one of the guys in charge of the programme mis-read the timing on his opera DVD, with the result that we were subjected to 145 minutes of not-exactly-riveting opera in stead of the one hour 45 minutes which he'd said it was. Oh dear!

It was a relief to get over to Carl's afterwards and meet up with a couple of his neighbours for a friendly chat and a few pints, then back to Carl's for what he described as a Moroccan Irish stew.
