Heeeeer's Sammy!

Yesterday I introduced you to Sally, the mother killdeer who lives right off our patio. Today let me introduce you to Sammy (on the left)--the devoted partner of Sally who diligently watches out for her as she sits on their 4 eggs! When I took the photo, I was about 4 feet away from them, and they did not move at all--trying to camouflage their selves in the lava rocks. If I would have moved closer, though, Sammy would have feigned injury in an effort to lure me away from his family!
