Was It Really So Long Ago

Its Not an Anorak, its a Mac

To the average Windows user like me, the regular software freezes, crashes and slow operation are part of using a computer, the problems being just sufficiently infrequent to avoid being an overbearing pain. We didn't switch to Vista, sticking with XP until 7 was introduced. Views are mixed on the fabled Vista, but the majority view is that it sucks.

There's no getting round it - Macs are expensive to buy compared to the average PC. But a Mac is not average. Apple don't make a low-end computer, so comparing like-for-like there at least as good value as a PC. However the hardware is just the start of the story. Beautifully made they certainly are. High spec they are too. What makes a Mac a Mac, is the software - it all works together so much better that I've seen on a PC including windows 7.

If this is all sounding a bit 'anoraky' I'd agree. The best way to answer the question 'What is so great about a Mac?' I'd say you just have to use one to find out. No one great thing about them, just too many smaller ones to ignore.
