Connect day 2
We weren't at the festival for the whole day today. We were up at half past eight for a great breakfast at the B&B to set us up for the day then headed out at about 11. Rather than go straight to the festival we decided to explore a bit since we'd never been in that part of the country. Kilmartin Glen was the bit we really wanted to see so, armed with our Julian Cope book we did a whirlwind tour of 3000 - 5000 year old sites. We managed to take in Dunadd hill fort, standing stones, a stone circle, an ancient chambered cairn and some really intricate cup and ring markings. It was well worth the trip and with a stop at the visitor centre in Kilmartin Village then at Lochgilphead on the way back we got into the festival for around 6pm.
I was a bit gutted that we missed The Fire Engines and The Only Ones, but there was plenty of other stuff on. We saw a bit of Modest Mouse and The Black Dog who were both really good. Our favourite act of the day, and choice of photo, was Scottish band Sons & Daughters who played a great set.
After that we caught a bit of both headliners Echo & The Bunnymen and Primal Scream but we were shattered so decided to leave early to get back to the B&B for a decent time. The only disappointment was that when we got about half way back to the campsite we could hear a bit of Echo and the Bunnymen and they played 'Seven seas' and 'the Cutter' which I'd have loved to have heard properly.
