The Quiet Plodder

Orion setting

In my part of our World, winter is soon to break upon us, at least calendar wise. The days are much shorter now, there is a chill in the early evening airs and some nights are cold. The constellation of Orion, which in high summer is almost directly overhead around midnight, albeit upside down as compared to what is seen in the northern hempishere, is now slowly setting, quite early, into the western horizon.

I was walking along the foreshore near Seaholme (a bayside suburb of Melbourne), when in the clear night I noticed this striking constellation which can be seen, despite the light pollution of the City, and I just stopped and looked with awe.
