Fallen Giant

Remember my Blip from a couple of days ago? About the tall spike rising from a rather small Agave plant?

Well...
All those buds started to open and created "windage", as sailors call it. Then yesterday was a windy day, really windy, red flag kind of wind. In those breezes the huge mast with its "sails" at the very top began to bend and sway in the wind. On a ship, the vessel would simply heel and the wind would blow over the top. Not so, in this case because the plant was set in the soil by its root system.

Something had to give - and it was the roots.

Personal note: I had intended to show a Blip of a couple of suitcases, as we depart today for Alaska, with its super clear air and bundles of photo ops. I will be subject to the availabilities of internet connections, so there may be some back-blipping. Be Patient.
