A Summer Day in May

Today felt like the middle of summer -- 90F/32C degrees and humid. Just as spring came early this year, it seems that summer has arrived early, too. My daughter had a friend over and the girls spent the afternoon running between the sandbox and a water sprinkler on the front lawn.

Not much to report other than the goose family that had seven, then four, goslings is now down to two goslings. Saw the great blue heron who summers at our pond catch a 10-inch fish. The bullfrogs and crickets have been making music all day. I saw what looked like an owl fly across the pond at dusk. One of the dogs found a ribbon snake near the wood pile where the mice have been hiding from the dogs. I called off the dog and let the snake slither back into the wood pile; I'm hoping that snake takes care of the mice.

Big.
