Strike a pose

This figure representing Art is part of the Leverhulme Memorial, beside the Lady Lever Art Gallery in Port Sunlight. After Lord Lever died in 1925, the employees in his various factories raised th funds to provide a memorial. The design chosen, which was completed in 1930, has five figures: Inspiration towers above on an obelisk and the four at ground level are Industry, Education, Charity and Art, all values dear to Lord Lever's heart. The three figures round the other side are very stern but Art looks to me like a girl who would enjoy a good shimmy round the dance floor.

A warm, calm evening for a stroll round the village, very few people about tonight. It's such a peaceful place to live.
