Much Ado About Nothing

An open-air performance on the lawn at the Royal Crescent.

The players were from the am-dram troupe The Lawn Players. It saddens me that audiences often appear to treat the Bard with too much reverence; Shakespeare wrote many scenes to amuse his groundlings so it's a pity people don't allow themselves to laugh at the funny bits!

It was a beautiful evening with not a cloud in the sky. Instead it was filled with Bath's seagulls and hot air balloons, both of which seem attracted to the city.

My host, Tonic, failed to deconflict the event when booking and spent the majority of the performance checking the progress of a much poorer performance - that of England v USA in the World Cup.

The night got colder as the plot unfolded. Elegant women chose to drape their couture with flimsy plastic ponchos in a desperate attempt to retain body heat; protected by their natural insulation, the penguins chose to eschew such measures.
