Mighty Oaks

There is no sign on this sculpture but I am told it represents the many ancient oak trees in the area.

Throughout many of the major cultures of Europe the oak tree has been held in high esteem. The Druids frequently worshipped and practised their rites in oak groves.

The fattest oak tree in Britain would take about nine adults to hug it, finger tip to finger tip. Not that I make a habit of hugging trees you understand.

Frustratingly I had a better picture of it than this one but there were a couple cars encroaching into the picture and it was too much work to attempt cloning them out. Settled for this one with a little bit of HDR work on it.
