What do you do with used staples?

Since our office implemented a full paper recycling program, I've dutifully taken all staples off paper I've sent for recycling. It has just become habit (for some reason, I think it's because I saw the result of someone else's collection) for me to keep the used staples in my drawer. This is the best part of about 3 or 4 years collecting.

The reason? Just so you can pick as many up as you can holding only 1 staple and making the resultant chaotic chain be as long as possible. You can get some facintating wee structures.
