Yummy

Did you know that in 1987 a 1,400-year-old piece of cheese was dug up from a bog in Tipperary... and it was still edible.

Well, guess what my colleague Joni unearthed today!

I wouldn't want to mislead you. This was nowhere near as old as that - although I'm not sure whether it was anywhere near as edible.

"The best thing you can say about it is that is fills a gap," someone was heard to say.

But, let's be honest, when you are slogging through a morass of reporters' copy, all you want to dig up for lunch is something that is going to keep you going until tea time.

Niceties like salad are definitely out. Besides, you wouldn't want any of that lettuce stuff getting stuck in your keyboard, would you?

So after parading the potato, in its fetching white polystyrene tray, Joni tucked in.

I played it safe with sandwiches brought in from the outside world.

* Sadly the camera in my phone was not so brilliant on this indoors shot - normal service will be resumed asap.
