Great Tit

Last week I spotted a pair of Great Spotted Woodpeckers who are rearing some chicks in a hole in a tree beside the river. I thought I might be able to get a good photo by putting some peanuts next to an old stump nearby and waiting for them to land on it before feeding on the peanuts. This morning I woke up early and down at the river was feeling optimistic - the conditions were perfect with nice light and busy birds everywhere. The woodpeckers flew around, back and forth to their hole feeding their young, but studiously avoided the stump. I did get this Great Tit though, doing a little gig before he had his breakfast. I'll try for the woodpecker again tomorrow.
