RW's Daily Exposures

Snowy Egret

Finally, a little time to go to the San Francisco Baylands near Palo Alto today. Lots of birds out feeding, preening and displaying. I caught this Snowy Egret in a typical shoreline feeding habit wiggling its feet in the mud, stirring up invertebrates and fish. I watched him feed for some time and got a lot of shots, but unfortunately the sun was bright and the white feathers were somewhat blown out. Tried shooting with -1/3 and -2/3 EV, but it was still too bright. I liked this one best.

Enjoy large!

Post Note: I had a little time to edit the photo today and applied a ND grad filter to bring in a little more highlights/take out some blow outs, still not perfect but a little better - check out the difference here.
