The Weir

There's been a weir on the Clyde at Glasgow Green since 1852; this structure dates from 1949, although the sandstone piers date from half a century earlier. As well as being a weir, it carries pipes across the river.

I've managed to walk across the river on the gantry bridges of the Weir, as it's sometimes open on the Doors Open Days. One day I'll get around to doing the Great Scottish Run: then I'll be able to say I've crossed all but 3 of the Glasgow Clyde bridges on foot, as you get to run across the Kingston Bridge for that. I doubt I'll be able to cross all of them on foot - that would require a lot of trespassing on railway lines!

By the way, happy Bloomsday everyone.
