A Canterbury Tail

By Canterbury

1770

An unexpected change in production left us with a rare day off today.

We took advantage by driving an hour and a half South of Gladstone to a little place called 1770. All for a coffee.

The settlement is called 1770 because on the 24th May 1770, Captain James Cook of the Royal Navy landed on shore here. His ship the Endeavour sheltered in the lee of the point here.

It is a lovely place, beautiful beaches and crystal clear water.
