The QE2 arrived today as part of the official opening of Liverpool's £19m cruise liner terminal, this also coincides with her 40th Birthday. We went over to Seacombe Ferry to see her berthed and to watch a firework display witch was set off from one of the boats on the River Mersey. It was a clear dry night and it was a great show, lots of people turned out to watch. At the end of the display she sounded her fog horn and everyone cheered. This is the first and last time that I will probably get to see her.
She is scheduled to berth permanently at a pier at the Palm Jumeirah development in Dubai in 2009.
The plan is to turn the 963ft (294m) long, 105ft (32m) wide liner into a floating hotel.
