ABCs & 123s

"1, 2, 4" says Callum, "A, B, D, E" and he signs his version of ABC

"1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10" Reubens says and signs, a new and beautiful voice emerging as he practices his spoken numbers all day long.

"1, 2, deWee..." replies Callum

"1" says Mama, "2" says Callum, "3" says Mama, "4" says Callum, "5" says Mama, "6" says Callum, "7" says Mama "8" says Callum.

Callum sits on my knee as I type away and points saying "Tee, Wa wa wa, Mmmm, Ah, Babababa, De, Sssss, Pee, Eeeeeeee" a beautiful hybrid of the alphabet letters and sounds

Reuben races through the alphabet in sign and words

We pass by the boys on my screen and Callum is ecstatic, "Reu Reu, Caca" he says and then seeing a bride on the screen says "Mama" and an old man "Dada".

Can't wait for the lazy days of summer when we can just have fun, fun, fun with our letters and numbers in Mum and Dad's garden. We just play around with them all the time, in the bathtub, on the alphabet mat, when we're out and about, speaking and signing all the way, and it's glorious what the boys can soak up with ambient learning alone. I didn't realise Callum could learn as quick as Reuben given his desire not to sit still for more than a brief moment, and I'm loving it now.
