Winged beast

This guy looks an awful lot like a mosquito to my untrained eye. Somebody please tell me it isn't. He/she was sitting on our bathroom wall. Need I remind you that this is Scotland? We don't do mozzies here, we have plenty of midges to contend with, thanks very much.

Went to see "Kick-Ass" tonight. I'd read all the fuddy-duddy complaints about "ooh, it's so violent" by now. I didn't expect to agree with that sentiment.

It started off ok. High school kid sees the injustices in the world and decides he shouldn't just stand by watching any more, he should help out some innocent victims of small crime. But he soon draws the attention of some more serious, seemingly very rich, morally twisted "super-heroes" with a vendetta.

Basically, one of them was once a cop, but his wife gets killed by some criminal boss, but not before she pops a sprog. The cop gets stitched up and sent to prison. Meanwhile his daughter grows up. When he gets out, he spends years training her with knives and guns, only to unleash bloody murder on the criminal's entire gang in a totally out of proportion retaliation worthy of Team America (f*ck yeah!).

Half the film is a 12 year old kid running around shooting people in the head and/or killing them with big knives. But it's all ok in the end cos when she finally goes to school she can deal with the bullies.

Am I officially old now?
