RW's Daily Exposures

Outdoor Classroom

This is a small group of students with two mentors getting a lesson on forest habitat and tree species.

The camp was conducted at a YMCA camp on Sequoia Lake near Sequoia National Monument. Students had two teacher led sessions in groups of 10 each morning and then two mentor led sessions after lunch. They also had 2 hours of free recreation time before dinner and a hike/campfire every evening. Pre and post assessments were made to measure the impact of the lessons, but I think the major impact was being at a 9 day science summer camp with something to do from dawn to dusk.

I'm glad I'm back... 16 hour days in the woods sounds like fun, but rarely did I get more than 5 hours of sleep each day.

Enjoy!
