a town called E.

Days of Glory. And Thunder.

In a small town with about 3500 inhabitants not a whole lot of excitement goes on. The quiet life is just that ... a quiet life.
There are however a few weekends reserved for festivities. For us lot, not being used to much, these days are a Big Deal, though I doubt that I would have given today much thought if I'd still be living in Den Haag/The Hague.

According to a member of the Chamber of Commerce 3000 people usually show up for 'our' Annual Car Show that hosts over 300 cars from the late '30s onwards. That means only 500 people DON'T leave their house for it! ;)

Anyway, it was sweltering hot but spirits were high and we sweated our way through Mustangs, Bel-Airs, Trans-ams and a General Lee that always announces its arrival in town with the familiar tune. Anyone ever watched the Dukes of Hazzard? THAT sound.

We gave our temp dog her third bath this morning and a good brushing. She's looking much shinier and continues to smell a bit better with every bit of grooming we do. The Beloved will call the shelter monday and see if they can house her. It's not fair to anyone, and most of all her, to keep her here, knowing we can't give her the home she deserves.

Photo is taken downtown, with our village hall and old, old movie theatre. I wish they would have put the really old cars in front of the Strand, but will have to do :)

Edit to add: just my luck; weeks, nay MONTHS go by without any deer-spotting and on the one day I do an early Blip this happens.
Pffff.
