Getting the hang of it.

Tiles.

These tiles are in the entrance to Tullie House museum in Carlisle, I love them and would love to have a house grand enough to have tiles like this in the hallway or entrance.

The reason we were at Tullie House was to see the exhibition called The Truth About Faeries.

It's not often we get to see a good exhibition like this one locally so we were eager to go, there was also the added bonus of free entrance ;-) We thoroughly enjoyed it and will probably return at some point before it closes in September.

We saw some wonderful paintings by Alan Lee, Brian Froud and other artists. We walked around in a clockwise direction and were thrilled to see right at the end of the exhibition a few paintings from the Ladybird books, The Elves and The Shoemaker, Sleeping Beauty and Cinderella. Imagine seeing pictures you remember from books well over 30 years ago right before your eyes and all the memories that came flooding back! It was wonderful.

If you're in the Lake District or The Borders for a holiday it's well worth a trip to Carlisle to see this exhibition and 'proper' paintings. There is also a fabulous Pre-Raphaelite section in the old part of Tullie House which is well worth a look, Edward Burne Jones and Dante Gabriel Rossetti being among the artists on display there.
