An unintentional geocache find today, in fact, our first successful one.

We had to go and order some school wear for Heather in Stirling, in one of those shops that smells of fust, with staff that still carry measuring tapes and has shelves filled with balls of wool, zips and deer stalker hats. Still, managed to get everything we needed and even have a hand written receipt to prove it.

We then headed off down to the nearby Smith Art Gallery and Museum and had a nice friendly chat with one of the staff in there as we wandered round. She used to work up at the nearby Wallace's Monument but the climb up the 247 stone steps of the spiral staricase every night to check everyone was out got to her. Kept her fit though she said.

We had intended to go and see the nearby chainsaw sculptures that she'd recommended visiting, but as I checked the geocaching app on the iPhone it highlighted a cache in the museum garden less than 200ft away. So we spent the next twenty minutes looking for the thing, with Euan here eventually finding it in the first place we'd looked twenty minutes before. It would seem that some of these things are fairly well hidden away.

We did head off up towards the Castle to find another but gave up on that due to time (car park closing and not wanting to be locked in for the night). I can definitely see the appeal in this modern day treasure hunt malarkey, though we must've looked a bit odd raking in bushes and looking under rocks to passers by and other visitors to the museum.

Downloaded the iPhone life.turns app when I got back so will be making a start on this tomorrow I think, seems there's a bit of a push on for this now.
