Buddha

This is my beloved Burmese wooden Buddha head.
Burma and Thai Buddhas usually have a slender body, curly hair and a quite subtle smile on their lips.

Chinese, Korean and Japanese instead portrays Buddha as an overweight man with a bald head but with a very open, happy and visible laugh.

This difference is not a contradiction because the two figure are actually different people: the Burmese, Thai and Indian Buddhas represent the historical Buddha i.e. Siddhartha Gautama, while the Chinese Korean and Japanese mostly picture another Buddha called the Laughing Buddha or Budai.
