i shot this photo at one of the two catholic churches within a few blocks of my apartment.

churches seem to be a theme in this town: catholic, protestant, baptist - they are scattered everywhere you look. but there are no synagogues, no temples, no meditation centers. only churches. within my first week of living here, at least five people asked me if i was looking for a church to join. i generally answered 'no im not, i actually associate most with buddhism' to which i received the answer of confused looks on their faces. buddhism? really?

sometimes i wonder how much you can tell about a place based on the diversity of religious centers available. im beginning to think that the answer is quite a lot.
