Dysfunctional

What is it? ..... it's part of the book checking out machine at the University library.
Why is it dysfunctional?..... well perhaps dysfunctional is the wrong word, after all, it does serve a function but it replaces the human interaction with the librarian... their smile (hopefully), a hello, a quick chat about the weather.
It's also made of plastic, another signifier of our love affair with oil. Our over use of natural resources.
Must be in a bit of a negative mood today... will have to look for something more optimistic to talk about tomorrow.
