Heron Flypast

I managed to find some Herons today.
six or eight of them on Loch Slappin, on the road to Elgol.
I had timed my visit with the incoming tide and they were sitting fishing, waiting patiently for lunch to swim past.

I waited patiently too and with the help of the 600mm lens and the 2X convertor with the 1D markIII body I managed to grab this.
This is a full image without cropping which with this combination increases the effective focal length to 1920mm.
At this massive focal length the markIII autofocuses, amazing...

If my previous heron shot held the blip record for focal length, then this one blows that out of the water :-)
