Carol: Rosie & Mr. Fun

The Lunch Bunch

Well, we could have cleared the table or at least we could have turned one of those cups to reveal the giant "J" on the JR, which is the logo for Miguel's Jr fastfood restaurant.

We seldom frequent this place, not because their food is bad. No, their food is delicious. A year ago when Mr. Fun started the diet, this is one of the eateries that became off limits because their food is just too fattening. Today was a treat to eat Mexican food here.

Our friends, Bob & Cherie, (on the right) currently live in Texas. Years ago they moved from our city to Burbank (close to Los Angeles), then to the state of Louisana, and then to Texas. Bob & Cherie miss several of California's fast food estabishments . . . Miguel's Jr is one of them. The other is In-N-Out Burger.

Bob & Cherie are in California taking care of her mom's estate. Cherie's mom died at Christmas time last year, not long after being at her granddaughter, Jessica's, wedding. So this morning they drove to our city to go to church with us.

John & Rhonda (on the left) will celebrate their 36th wedding anniversary tomorrow. We all became friends years ago when our kids were little and we attended the same church and all would go to family summer camp together on Catalina Island. I think that camp experience bonded us in unique and fun ways. Vacationing together has an amazing effect on friends.

So we all went for lunch to this favorite inexpensive place. During lunch I asked John what he and Rhonda were going to do for their anniversary and he replied that he was going to take the day off of work and they are going out for breakfast, lunch, and dinner and just have a field trip kind of day. He mentioned that he had already gone to Costco to buy her 36 roses for 36 years and when he got them home he realized that a dozen roses at Costco (a big warehouse grocery place) is really two dozen. So Rhonda currently has 72 roses in her home. I thought that was great tale.

So that's the story of part of our day and the friends we shared it with, so you didn't have to view one more of my life.turns poses. I do plan to post more of those though. Sorry! ;-)
