Digging 14: Digger

Sometimes the delicate tools have to be put to one side, and the big boys move in.

We had established that the cellar of Hamilton House was essentially filled with the rubble from the demolition of the building. It made much more sense to use the mechanical digger to shift it, rather than taking a couple of days to dig it out by hand...Jem was very pleased, as she would have been the manual digger!

As to the rest of the day, I lifted another skeleton (that had been truncated so that just the feet were left). It is still really difficult to work out the outlines of the new graves that I think I've found, and we're still waiting to see how deep we will have to go in the cemetery area...

Well, just about to eat. M has made pizzas :)
