Alnwick Garden

It has rained a lot this afternoon and evening. I love it in the garden after the rain. The light was very dull this evening but that always seems to intensify the depth of colour of the petals.

Here is a bloom and a bud on the David Austin rose, Alnwick Garden, given to my by my team when I retired in 2003 (very early retirement I hasten to add!). The perfume is delicious and the rose flowers freely over a long period so I can recommend it. It is named after the gardens at Alnwick Castle where the Duchess of Northumberland, a very energetic woman, has taken on the task of creating gardens on the grand scale.
