Sauxillage

We left Sam in bed sleeping (Is that all teenagers do?) and set off to Sauxillage to have a meander through the market. We chatted with the man selling saucisson and bought a couple - one with mushroom and one with nuts. I love saucisson sec and have memories of my aunt cutting great hunks to give us to chew on. Maybe it was to keep us quiet, but just the scent is enough to make me travel back in time to those days in France as a child. We also bought some cherries to make clafoutis and some enormous peaches to eat. We sat at one of the tables in the cafe pictured (and let the rain that you can see approaching pass just as quickly as it came) and had a drink whilst the proprietor and his staff sat down to have lunch together inside. Everything stops here at midday for a good two to three hours. Most people go home to eat with their families and as we wandered the narrow streets we could hear the sounds of meals being eaten inside the houses.
