Learning the Lesson

It's slightly daunting to go out blipping the day after you learn of your Blip of the Week Award (and thanks again for all the lovely comments), but out one must putting all thoughts of 'flash in the pan' or 'one shot wonder' to the furthest recesses of the mind!

So, here we go...in Barcelona these days there are a series of photographs mounted at key points in the steets illustrating happenings during the Franco dicatorship (and shortly thereafter). Here, a young French boy is reading the commentary...'February 1976: Control of public space ('the steet is mine', as the Interior Minister, Manuel Fraga Iribarne, said after the death of 5 workers in Vitoria in 1976), was one of the obsessions of the dictatorial regime'

The photograph within this shot shows police out to keep the street theirs at this very spot at the junction of Avenida Diagonal and Passeig de Gracia in February 1976. I like to think the presence of crowd control barriers nearby is just a coincidence.
