Silent Valley Reservoir, Mourne Mountains

- Backblip - Northern Ireland Day 5

The Silent Valley Reservoir is located in the Mourne Mountains near Kilkeel and was built between 1923 and 1933 to create a water supply for County Down and Belfast. Over 1,000 men worked on its construction. The area is surrounded by the Mourne Wall, built entirely by hand, which took 18 years to complete.

A very impressive, quiet place. Walked along the road until we got soaked through and had to turn back.
