Last week I took some macro shots of my phono cartridges (Transfiguration Phoenix II) stylus, which in principle is the tiny diamond at the tip of the needle. Have had this cartridge already almost 2 years and noticed some wear there. Play LP's quite a lot from time to time and as don't want to ruin my LP collection decided to stop using it for the time being.

Unfortunately as this is MC type cartridge which has fixed needle unit, the change of the new needle and stylus are not possible by us the users. So sent msg to my local dealer if the company has some policy for the satisfied users for updating to the newer model. I guess if they do will go there, if not then have to start looking something else. Hmm perhaps something japanese again.. ..Koetsu.. ..ZYX.. ..these difficult decisions of life..

Anyway, here's a photo of the lonely color encoded wires of my SME tonearm.
