That There London

Well, here we are at the Wembley Stadium, though quite how we made it I've no idea.

Before getting to this point, we had trained down to London using Grand Central and had a very enjoyable if not slightly back-achingly uncomfortable journey. We arrived in London to a packed tube station and a real lack of air-con. All good though, and we soon lighted the tube and headed towards a secret destination (Paul had booked the hotel and I was in the dark).

As we got near to Grosvenor Sqaure, I soon clicked that we were headed for Claridges. I was very excited - though I never thought that any hotel would steal my affections from the beloved Dorchester.

Anyway - the sweaty and heavily pregnant lady at the check-in must have caused a little tug on the hearties as we were quickly whisked away to a lift (complete with operator and sofa) and led to a £850 a night suite complete with free champagne.

Confused? Yes, we were too. It was two clear upgrades from the room that Paul had booked.

We had less than an hour to enjoy the room before we hit the busy streets again and headed for Ramsay's Maze Grill. There are no words to describe the cocktails, the food, the service, the private tour of the kitchen for 'the regulars', the dessert....

Just go there (please) and order the following;

Ortiz anchovies, confit tomato, olives and toasted sourdough
*****
Wagyu '9th grade' Gold style Sirloin 10oz
*****
Spinach with gruyère
Potato gratin
*****
Devonshire rice pudding, orange thyme jam
and vanilla bean ice cream

A wheelbarrow was required to get me back to the hotel, hence I started this blip saying that we were lucky to make it to the Stadium at all. A great day, an England win and a fabulous room for the night. Just another PG adventure!
