The Lozarithm Lens

Bremhill

Today's free Elvis DVD was Blue Hawaii, and having acquired it I found a number of leaves and berries nearby to record with my inquisitive lens.

Today's blip, though, comes from a mile or so further along, in the village of Bremhill. I remember seeing cattle grazing in the farmyard on the main street, just yards from this scene, behind a gate, but although the farm building remains, the cattle yard is now sadly just a driveway to some new build homes.

The building on the left is the old schoolhouse, to the right is the base of the market cross, and in the centre is the church of St Martin. Part Anglo-Saxon, part Norman, with probably a C14 tower. The arcades are c. 1200, but according to Pevsner, "terribly re-done at the restoration of 1850." Those Victorians loved to embellish everything.

Yesterday was backblipped.
