Harriet Beecher Stowe was an American author and abolitionist best known for her anti-slavery novel Uncle Tom's Cabin. Her book is said to have "helped lay the groundwork for the Civil War" and was the second most popular book, after the bible, of the 19th century in America.

Harriet Beecher Stowe is buried in the cemetery at Phillips Andover Academy in Andover, Massachusetts.
