Stinging nettles

There could be only one blip today: stinging nettles. I wanted to show all those tiny stinging hairs!

I am leading a walk on Wednesday. When I pre-walked it on Saturday there was one stretch of footpath near Nunwick Mill that was almost impassible because of the nettles and thistles. I heard locally that the landowner is trying to discourage bikers from using the path. Today I sallied forth with my friends D and J. We took secateurs, a sickle and shears. After one hour of hard work we had cleared a single file path through. We felt very satisfied, although the nettles fought back hard - and I have a good few stings to prove it!
