Gypsy Wedding

What a day!
Thought my husband wasn't going to make it back in time to man the video.
Couldn't get parked at the brides house due to too many Ford Transits.
Got to wedding venue, set up tripod, one leg fell off!!
Picked up camera to check which lens would be best.....no choice, my 70-200 digital zoom had just died, it was fine ten minutes earlier.
The staff couldn't get the guests to go inside to await the bride, they wanted to see her arrive on the Oss 'n' cart.
Couldn't hear a thing in the ceremony, lots of children crying and people just chatting away as if they were anywhere other than a wedding.
They were asked not to throw confettie....I counted six empty boxes!

Trying to organise any large group of people is difficult at the best of times, trying to organise about 90 travellers........
Think I'll take up jelly juggling, it has to be easier.

What the bride and groom wanted didn't really matter, it was more about getting back to the Rugby Club for beer and scran.

We've known this branch of the Farrow family for about 10yrs, have watched Maureen grow up from crazy pretty teenager to still crazy, beautiful woman.
We would have loved to have been able to get a photo of Maureen with her five brothers, she is about 5"5 size 8 and they are all big blokes........not to be, the beer was flowing and they weren't for leaving the bar.

We found the cake in a very tiny room with just enough space for two large tables filled with food and a passage way between them, the cake at the end of said passage with hardly any where to stand to get the "cutting" photo!!

As people arrived thru the afternoon, so came the giving of envelopes accompanied by words such as "look after that" and "put it somewhere safe"

I think this photo sums up those words of wisdom, I count 14, she was trying to open the next envelope and her husband was tryng to find his wallet, where else would you put it?
It was a rare moment.... Maureen silenced.

We are not pro photographers, they couldn't get one at short notice so they just asked us to go and do what we could.

We had a great time with some real salt of the earth people who were more than grateful that we had turned up.

We just hope they will like the results.
