Main College Building, Cardiff University

Continuing the theme of Cardiff skylines, one close to my heart - Main College Building. Used recently in Sherlock, and often by Dr Who - the building also has a more important role for the university!

The flags fly from the flagstaffs, and the Welsh Dragon is repeated in the bronze that tops the turret - I'd never noticed that before! As with a lot of public buildings in Wales it has it's share of vegetation growing on its roof, usually (as in this case) lavatera (the butterfly bush).

What a grim day! The rain fell incessantly and this picture taken early in the morning (as an insurance blip) became the one and only and main feature of the day. At least you could look up without getting a wet face!
