Starling at The Needles

Friday night and back at Mudeford Quay , weather looking like its realised that the bank holiday weekend beckons. quite alot of folk about, a mixture of locals and a few holiday makers hanging on. Loads of photo opportunities but spotted some starlings amonst the lobster pots and grabbed this little fellow. Not everyones favourite bird but certainly a friendly visitor to Mudeford.

Globally, starling numbers have fallen by more than 50 per cent in the past 30 years, especially in the bird's native Europe. Some blame pesticides.
The degree of loss in such a hardy species is ominous, pointing toward ecosystem damage that may be impacting seriously on wildlife.
The global decline is so acute there have even been suggestions that starlings be listed as endangered.

The weekend is here off to enjoy some boating, football, and quality time with my other half !!
