Tony Bourdain

Still feeling rough today but we had to be in Dumfries for Maddy's cousin Lucy's fifth birthday party. It was good, the rain had been on in the morning but, with the exception of one shower it held off for the party. All the kids loved the bouncy castle slide type deal that Lucy's mum had hired, even MAddy who spent the first bit pretending to be too cool for school.

When we got home we dropped Mads at Chloe's house in Porty then headed out for the book festival via some dinner. We grabbed a curry at Suruchi too on Constitution Street after a recommendation from a work mate. It was excellent.

Next it was up to Charlotte Square to catch Anthony Bourdain's reading and Q&A. He's a very funny guy in person. To behonest that wasn't a surprise because as well as reading his books we've seen plenty of his TV shows too. Afterwards we went to get his new book Medium raw signed.

If your not familiar with him his writing is hilarious and you should really check out Kitchen confidential. We were bought it as a present and, to be honest, my first thought was that I couldn't be bothered reading a chef's biography. It gathered dust on a shelf for a bit until Luckyjim raved to me about how funny it was and I finally got round toreading it. He was spot on a cracking read.
