Jam and .... more Jam

Just a small sample of the jam we made this weekend. Pots and pots of it! Erika's first ever jam, blackberry and apple is delicious and set very well. Mine, damson, is tasty but I don't think it's set yet - we used different sugars - hers had jam sugar in and mine had preserving sugar in. Shan't buy that again! Then we made a 'lets get all the red fruit out of the freezer surprise' jam which is mainly blackcurrant and damson which has worked out quite well, a fig and apple with white currant and green plum preserve that is lovely and Erika's last thing was spicy apple ketchup. She had a small disaster in that she read the recipe wrong and nearly put 8 lbs of sugar in instead of 8 oz - so now we have quite a lot of spicy apple ketchup! We ran out of jars so our lovely friend Anne came to the rescue with this assortment. The kitchen is a disaster zone as we also had friends around to eat and after all that were just too exhausted to clean up.
We couldn't make wine as the damsons and elderberries aren't quite ripe enough yet - will hve to do that another weekend!
